.577 Snider-Enfield Mklll.  BSA made 3-band Snider action rifle, dated 1871. Correct flat hammer, military inspection marks. 3-groove steel barrel. Comes with reproduction white leather sling. Metalwork bright, wood generally good but minor marks consistent with age .The Mklll was not a conversion from muzzle-loading but always made as a breech-loader. Aside from Britain and the Empire, a number of Sniders were sold to France for use in the Franco-Prussian War 1870
