Farrar, armoury senior inspector 1860-1868, and CSL for Major Charles S Lowell working 1858-1861. These serve to date the pistol to 1860/61. Good condition, clean and bright metalwork with clear marks of Starr 1856 patent date and Starr Arms Co.. Clear manufacturer inspector marks. Grips clean and sharp. Minor scuffs to frame forward of the cylinder. As with some other US military arms, it has been personalised with an M (or W) roughly scratched to the base of the butt. This revolver is one of only 23k issued 1862-1863
