A .577 Mll** Snider Enfield 3-band rifle. Originally 1863 dated muzzle loader, Enfield, with VR over crown to lock plate. Intertwined LACo mark to breechblock. Numerous military inspection marks. Both tang and butt-plate marked: V. Mx 38 519 to Middlesex Volunteers. Enfield marked Class 1 to stock denoting a Class 1 arm which would have gone to a main Line regiment, with unit marking “1.C” over” T” to butt. Cupped hammer, nipple protector, old refinish. Bore is OK: quite presentable, generally clean and sharp but occasional signs of old but light patches of rust; externally, old pitting to muzzle – just where you’d hold it whilst standing in line waiting to shoot in competition. Comes with a reproduction white leather sling.
