A brass, 84 bore two-winged bullet, unusually small for mechanically fitted bullet. Mould is numbered 2428, presumably to a particular rifle, casting a projectile for use the wings of which match the grooves of a two-groove rifled arm. Being a bullet rather than belted ball, probably circa 1840’s or 50’s, although being two winged, does indicate earlier rather than later. Steel sprue cutter; OAL: 6”, diameter 0.35”, “wings”: 0.407”.
