M1442 - Coat of Arms for the Royal British Bowmen.
A decorated cast metal archery mount for the Royal British Bowmen, surmounted by the crowned royal coat of arms, painted in gilt polychrome over cast metal. The Royal British Bowmen were formed in Wrexham, North Wales in 1787, obtaining royal patronage in 1789, by which time their membership had grown to 101 members although membership was later capped at 120 members. Nevertheless, it remained an exclusive club of gentlemen and high society. The Royal British Bowmen was the first to allow women to join with full and equal rights to male members, forming almost half of the membership (46 in 1789)
