Swiss 10.4mmR/F Vetterli Model 1869/71 rifle, No.: 110063, with 33-inchblued barrel with adjustable rear sight. In this uprated model,  the receiver has no provision for loading gate nor dust cover to the bolt; it is marked "Soc. Ind. Suisse.", who manufactured them 1869 - 1874, the full length stock with three barrel bands and steel butt plate. In 1871 the Model 1869 was updated with an improved elevator system and simplified receiver.  The loading gate was omitted as was the magazine cut-off on the left side of the receiver.   During it's production life, several other modifications were made to the Model 1869/71: tighter barrel tolerances, the omission of the ejection port cover, improvements to front and rear sights, and the omission of the gas escape holes above the chamber.  This is an early example of the uprated Model 1869, with 1871 features, but retaining the gas escape holes above the chamber. Generally very good condition indeed, except for some old light pitting to nosecap and upper barrel band.
